The ideal candidate will possess a solid educational background, coupled with practical experience in purchasing goods and services or contract administration, preferably in a government agency. Responsibilities:
- Purchasing Operations:
- Execute and manage the end-to-end purchasing process, from sourcing to delivery.
- Implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost and quality.
- Contract Administration:
- Administer and oversee contracts for goods and services.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors, negotiating terms and resolving issues.
- Evaluate vendor performance and recommend improvements.
- Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to generally accepted purchasing principles, established procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of changes in departmental guidelines and industry regulations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and organized records of purchasing activities.
- Prepare reports on purchasing metrics and performance.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience in purchasing goods and services and/or administration of contracts, preferably in a government agency.
- Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of generally accepted purchasing principles.
- Familiarity with established procedures, departmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
